MORE than 6,000 Warrington Wolves fans had fun in the St Helens sun as their team booked their place in the Challenge Cup Final.

A dominant semi-final victory over Huddersfield Giants set up an enticing Wembley meeting with neighbours Wigan Warriors on June 8 – a week after the teams are due to meet in Super League Round 13 at The Halliwell Jones Stadium.

After Sunday’s game, we reached out to our Guardian Fan Panel members for their thoughts and panellists Mark Robinson and Louis Banks responded.

Here is what they thought…

MARK ROBINSON

We were playing Giants in name only – our whole team were Giants today.

Saying that, even though we got to 18-0 pretty quickly there seemed to be a nervousness about us at times and for a short time after getting well in front of Giants, if you had just tuned into the game you could have thought we were behind and we needed half time.

That first try in the second half really settled us and the performance there on in was awesome – this team is growing week on week and I think there is a lot more to come.

On to Wembley and what game that will be – the two best teams on current form and it should be a fitting occasion.

It’s great to be a Wire fan right now, the sun is really shining after a dark and gloomy few seasons.

LOUIS BANKS

What should have been a very equal match before kick-off soon turned into a one-sided competition.

On paper, this was two very equal teams with stars all over the field but it was Wire who took control of the game from the start and it never really looked like there would be any other result apart from a Wire win.

A proper team performance, every man playing for his teammate and putting it all out there. The difference between the two teams was the fact Wire played as a team not as individuals.

A mouthwatering final ahead with Wigan being favourites – come on the Wire!
