WARRINGTON Wolves’ average home attendance enjoyed an encouraging increase during the 2023 season.
The Wire’s 13 Super League home matches saw them pull in an average crowd of 10,880 – a jump of almost 25 per cent from last year’s figure of 8,719.
Indeed, it is the club’s highest average attendance since the 2016 campaign, when an average of 10,909 people were packing into The Halliwell Jones Stadium for matches.
This year saw the club set a new attendance record of 15,026 at their current home as the “sold-out” signs went up for the 13-6 defeat to Wigan Warriors back in April.
Nine of their 13 matches saw crowds of over 10,000, with the lowest gate of the year being the 8,981 that watched them lose 22-6 to Leeds Rhinos in June.
This reflects encouraging figures across Super League as a whole – with one regular-season round to go, the average attendance at Super League matches this year currently stands at 9,270, which is the best since 2012 and only the fifth time the average has surpassed 9,000 in the 28 Super League seasons since 1996.
