CHRIS Roberts, along with his fishing mate Lee Prydderch, fished a two-night session on Rixton Claypits but after nothing to show for their efforts on Friday night they decided to move to the other side of the fishery.

Result was an old warrior of a mirror carp of 20lbs for Chris who was on only his second visit to a WAA fishery since joining, having first of all enjoyed a great carp session on The Mount at Buckley.

The mirror took his ‘Sent from Hell’ 15mm pop-up boilie on which he hooked three more carp, landing two commons and losing the other.

Lee missed out on the carp, after losing one in the weed, but landed six bream to around the 4lbs mark.

John Manley, on his second session on our association-owned Small Sandiway Lake managed a 21lb mirror to save him from a blank.

The fish took a Mainline Hi-Viz clockwork orange boilie over a bed of particles. There are quite a few fish showing and hopefully will be getting their heads down feeding as the weather improves.

Nice to see Phil Brown, on my phone contacts as ‘the Tench Specialist’, back on Grey Mist for another session targeting the tincas. Result was no tench but he was more than happy to land a 16.5lb mirror carp on a method feeder rig.

Mike Pritchard was out on the Bridgewater for his regular weekly Saturday session but bites were few and far between. He ended up with a total of 15 roach, best 6osz and the smallest perch that he had ever caught. He fished a homemade waggler using pinkie.

The Monday Disabled & Over 60s match this week was fished on the Bridgewater Canal at Beech Road, Stockton Heath, which was, in the canal match heyday, a go-to length for some good catches…well not so this week.

Pete Jones drew to the right of the famous Pear Tree peg and ended up the winner with 30 small roach for a weight of 2lbs 10ozs 0drs, all caught on bread. Jeff Stoll took the runner-up spot with 1-13-0. Seventeen anglers fished.
