FOUR runners completed clean sweeps of race victories when the Neville Jones Warrington Schools Cross Country League concluded at Walton Gardens on Saturday.

In primary school races, Emilia Gandy from Christ Church, Toby Harrison from Cherry Tree, Pippa Wall from Culcheth and Harry Millar from Croft all secured their third wins of the series.

While at secondary school level, Lymm High were dominant as they triumphed in the minor girls, minor boys and junior girls team competitions.

The first two rounds took place in October and November last year but the concluding meet was twice postponed.

Many of the leading runners maintained their consistency over the six-month period.

Emilia Gandy was pushed closest by second-placed Eva Brazier-Kobus (St Monica’s) and third-placed Bethany Roberts (Ravenbank) in the Year 4/5 girls' race on Saturday. St Monica’s took the team event on the day, with Ravenbank second and Cherry Tree third.

In the equivalent age group for boys, Luke Barnes finished second on the day behind his teammate Toby Harrison while Alex Farrell (Ravenbank) was third. Cherry Tree took the team event ahead of St Monica’s and St Wilfrid’s.

Pippa Wall was ahead of Grace Rashud (Christ Church) and Leah Poole (Statham) third in the Year 6 girls' race, while the team finishing order was Statham, Broomfields, St Monica’s.

And the last of the clean sweepers Harry Millar fended off Ashton Illingworth (Great Sankey) and Eddie Walker (Cherry Tree) in the Year 6 boys' event, with Great Sankey holding off Broomfields and Culcheth in the day's team reckoning.
