WARRINGTON boxer George Pennington hopes to go a step further than before after completing a hat-trick of regional titles.
The 17-year-old Hook and Jab pugilist from Padgate recently won his third successive under 71kg Merseyside and Cheshire Regional Boxing Championships title.
He won his first last February after spending several weeks training with world champion Savannah Marshall.
Then Pennington went on to win his second Merseyside and Cheshire title in November before becoming North West Region Champion and fighting twice more to reach the final of the National Amateur Boxing Championships where he lost to the previous year's national development event winner Freddie Wilken.
He will compete in the quarter finals of the England Boxing National Youth Championships on Friday, February 10 and will be hoping to go one step further and bring home the national title.
George has been with Hook and Jab since the age of 10, and also has a history in playing football for Greenalls Padgate St Oswalds FC.
