WARRINGTON Town could find themselves top of the Northern Premier League Premier Division table if they extend their winning run tonight.

Yellows make the long trip to Whitby Town looking for a fifth consecutive league victory – a game manager Mark Beesley knows will be a stiff test despite their hosts’ struggles.

The Seasiders sit outside the relegation places on goal difference alone having lost nine of their 15 league games, the latest being a 2-0 reverse at Town’s neighbours Warrington Rylands on Saturday.

However, their last home game saw them beat Bamber Bridge 3-0 a week ago and as such, Beesley is under no illusions about the threat they pose.

“Tuesday’s very difficult up there,” he said following Saturday’s 3-1 win at Guiseley.

“They had a great win last week against Bamber Bridge and it is always a tough place to go.

“They didn’t have the best start but they seem to have picked up in recent weeks.”

As previously mentioned, a win tonight could take fourth-placed Town top of an imbalanced table if current leaders Hyde United are beaten at South Shields.

They are boosted by a return to contention for Mitch Duggan, who is available again after completing a three-match ban for his sending-off in last month’s win at Lancaster City.

Midfielder Jay Harris is available – his one-game suspension for picking up his fifth booking of the season at Guiseley does not kick in until Saturday’s home game against Marske United.

Forwards Josh Amis and Isaac Buckley-Ricketts continue to ease their way back from illness with substitute appearances while last season’s top goalscorer Jordan Buckley is still several weeks away from a return to training following an ankle injury.

“Isaac and Mossy are both finding their way back,” Beesley said.

“They benefitted from a free midweek last week so they could both get two tough sessions in.

“We’ve now got this game Tuesday followed by Saturday so they’ve got to be ready. It’s the same for Bohan (Dixon).

“Injuries and suspensions are going to start kicking in now, so everyone has to be ready to take the baton on.

“It’s a slow process with Jordan. It was a bad injury – we always knew he’d be around three months and he’s at 10 weeks now.

“I’d like to say he’s around three weeks away from joining in and then it’s up to us to make sure he’s fit and firing before he comes back into the side.”
