WARRINGTON Wolves and their Super League rivals will shortly be able to plot their way through the 2025 season.
It is understood clubs will reveal their first home fixtures of the campaign later today ahead of the full fixture release tomorrow morning.
The Wire, of course, already know when two of their fixtures will be played – their historic Las Vegas meeting with Wigan Warriors in Round Three will be on Saturday, March 1, while the two sides will also meet at Magic Weekend, which will form Round 10, in Newcastle on Sunday, May 4.
Round One in 2024 saw them beaten 16-10 by Catalans Dragons in Perpignan – their first opening-day defeat for three seasons.
The Wire’s record in Super League openers is distinctly mixed, with a slight weighting towards victories.
They have won 15 and lost 13 of their 29 Round One matches with one draw – the 20-20 sharing-of-the-spoils at Hull FC back in 2012.
Their biggest opening-day win was the 58-0 thrashing of Harlequins in 2010, with their heaviest Round One loss being a 58-20 hammering at Bradford Bulls in 1997.
Last year’s trip to Perpignan was also the 15th time they have started a Super League campaign with an away fixture with 12 home openers, the last of which was a 42-10 hammering of Leeds Rhinos in 2023.
The other two were held on neutral ground – the 2011 defeat to Huddersfield Giants at Millennium Magic and 2021’s loss to Castleford Tigers behind closed doors at Headingley during the Covid pandemic.
Of the current Super League line-up, Hull KR and Leigh Leopards are the only side Warrington are yet to face in an opening-day fixture.
Wire have faced both Wigan Warriors and Harlequins/London three times in Super League openers while Salford Red Devils, St Helens, Castleford Tigers, Hull FC, Huddersfield Giants and Halifax have all provided their opposition twice.
They have also opened up seasons against Catalans Dragons (2017), Wakefield Trinity (2004) and Bradford Bulls (1997).
