JODY Banim has called on his Warrington Rylands squad to start taking the goalscoring weight off the shoulders of key duo Callum Dolan and Kane Drummond.

Despite being down in 13th place in the Northern Premier League Premier Division table, Blues are the league’s leading goalscorers.

They have netted 30 times and 21 of those goals have come from flying forwards Dolan (12) and Drummond (9).

A further six have been scored by players no longer at the club - three from Ryan Brooke, two from David Webb and one from Andy Scarisbrick.

Banim admitted their reliance on the pair is “a slight concern,” perhaps typified by Tuesday’s 0-0 draw with Atherton Collieries.

Dolan and Drummond were kept largely quiet and as a result, Rylands were prevented from scoring in a league game for the first time since the opening day.

“We lived for moments (on Tuesday) and hoped Kane or Callum would produce a bit of magic but sometimes it doesn’t happen for them,” Banim said.

“There’s a slight concern that we are over reliant on Kane and Cal for our goals.

“We need to share them around but that’s why we have brought people like Sean Cooke in – he could potentially chip in with 10-12 goals.

“We need more in an attacking area from people like Kelly N’Mai and Harry Pratt.

“We don’t look like massive threats from set-pieces either so we need goals from other areas.”

Tuesday’s draw extended Blues’ winless run to six league matches – and things are about to get tougher.

Saturday sees them make the long and difficult trip to face pre-season title favourites South Shields, who have lost just once in the league this season and are unbeaten at their 1st Cloud Arena home.

Banim is hoping to add to his defensive ranks ahead of the trip to Tyneside, with centre-backs Aaron Morris and Josh Langley having both suffered season-ending knee injuries.

“We’re trying to add to the squad but it’s difficult – they have to be the right player and fit into the budget,” he said.

“We tried to recruit someone to help us in those forward areas but we didn’t quite get it over the line.

“We’ve also been trying to get a centre-back in – there may be a loan arriving in time for Saturday, which we need.

“Jordan (Mustoe) has done a really good job in there for us but we need to freshen things up.”
