DIRECTOR of rugby Adam Fletcher hailed “a really clinical performance” from his Lymm side as they thrashed Burnage on Saturday.

The hosts crossed for 14 tries in all at Beechwood, running up a dominant 90-12 scoreline for their fifth win in six league matches.

They are only kept off the top of the Regional 1 North West table by virtue of having fewer bonus points than leading pair Blackburn and Rossendale.

Winger and captain-for-the-day Nathan Beesley caught the eye as he touched down for four tries, with scrum-half Cormac Nolan scoring twice as well as enjoying a clinical afternoon with the boot.

Ali Sutherland also crossed the whitewash twice, with eight different try-scorers in all.

“It was a really clinical performance,” said Fletcher, who takes his side to Kendal for their next fixture on Saturday.

“I was really happy with how we kept our concentration in the second half – it would have been easy to take our foot of the gas but we kept to our processes well.”

Lymm had a four-try bonus point secured by half-time as Beesley and Nolan touched down alongside Paddy Jennings, Steve Pilkington and Oli Higginson to ensure a 33-5 lead at the break.

They then cut loose after the interval thanks to three more tries from Beesley, Sutherland’s brace and one more from Nolan to go with further scores from Alfie Simpson and Ed Morris.

It was a full house of victories for Lymm’s senior teams, with both the seconds and thirds also running out winners in their respective fixtures.

The seconds moved to the top of their league after thrashing their Burnage counterparts 81-17 – they host third-placed Sedgeley Park in their next game.

The thirds were on the road and moved up to second in the table with a 24-5 win at Wirral.

Sunday saw a full programme of training and matches for the club’s Minis and Junior sections, with the Junior Colts team proving their mettle with a 31-29 victory over their counterparts from Heaton Moor.
