INJURIES are starting to pile up at Warrington Town – and manager Mark Beesley says the situation is unlikely to improve any time soon.

With two tricky away games coming up, however, he says his side must ‘keep digging in’ as they look to rebound from Tuesday’s 2-0 home defeat to Gainsborough Trinity.

Tomorrow sees Yellows visit Liversedge before a trip to Lancaster City on Tuesday – both sides are struggling at the wrong end of the table but have picked up impressive victories of late.

For Town, it is a case of counting the bodies after more players succumbed to injury this week, with attacking areas particularly badly hit.

Isaac Buckley-Ricketts (appendix) and Mikey Howard (knee) are set for lengthy absences and join long-term casualty Jordan Buckley (ankle) on the sidelines.

Josh Amis succumbed to illness on Tuesday and Bohan Dixon remains suspended, while Josh Seary and Stefan Mols were only able to make brief cameos off the bench at Cantilever Park.

The situation was eased by two new signings this week – attacking full-back Eddie Clarke rejoined the club while forward Connor Woods arrived on loan from Southport – but Beesley was not optimistic of adding more new blood to his squad.

“It’s something I’ll have to speak to the chairman about but it’s looking like we’ll have to stick to what we’ve got,” he said.

“It’s highly unlikely we will have anyone back and it’s a big problem. It is what it is and we have to get on with it.

“We have to dust ourselves down and stop conceding goals firstly, then hopefully these chances and half-chances we’re still creating start to go in.

“On Tuesday we had maybe six balls go across the box. It doesn’t have to be a striker on the end of them, just someone who wants to get in there and score goals.”

Town go into the weekend sitting 14th in the Northern Premier League Premier Division table with a perfectly symmetrical record.

Their 12 league games have seen four wins, four draws and four defeats while they have scored 15 goals and conceded the same number.

“We’ve very inconsistent,” Beesley conceded.

“Our performances were very good in the first eight games of the season, then we got beat at Bamber Bridge when we were very poor in the first half an hour.

“Since then, we’ve been very up and down within games.

“On Tuesday I thought we were good in the second half, we were great in the first half on Saturday, we were excellent in the second half against Rylands and we were good in the game as a whole against Radcliffe.

“We’re up and down and that’s to do with a bit of confidence.

“We’re missing senior players that will help with that, but we’ve just got to keep going. Games are coming thick and fast and we’ve got to keep digging in.”
