PAUL Wood has gone to hospital with further shoulder trouble that head coach Paul Cullen described as "not looking good".
The prop forward came off the substitutes' bench against Catalans Dragons this afternoon to make his first Super League appearance since a third reconstruction of his right shoulder ended his 2007 campaign early.
But the Wiganer left the field early in the second half, stooping as he walked with his right arm dangling.
Cullen said after the 38-18 win: "Unfortunately, the shoulder came out. It was relocated and put back in and he's gone to Whiston Hospital.
"Unfortunately, it is the same shoulder. It didn't look good."
Cullen added: "The crying shame was that it happened on the back of an outstanding carry.
"He worked tirelessly to get back in the frame and to a high standard of fitness.
"I'm absolutely gutted for him."
Wood had successfully come through the Reserves' match at Hull Kingston Rovers one week earlier.
