ROBBIE Mulhern was offered a deal to remain at Warrington Wolves for next season, Daryl Powell has confirmed.

The Wire head coach has praised the displays of the prop, who was one of the players confirmed to be leaving the club earlier today.

Amid a season of change, Mulhern has been a mainstay of the side this year, making 19 starts throughout 2022.

With his contract coming to an end, however, he will be moving on and has been heavily linked with a move to Leigh Centurions.

“Rob was one we made an offer to, but it ended up not quite working out for him in terms of what we offered and we moved on,” Powell said.

“Rob’s been really good and one thing I’d say is that he’s been a class fella all the way through.

“The way he’s behaved hasn’t deviated and has been outstanding, so I’d pay tribute to him for the way he’s handled himself.

“He’s actually playing some of his best rugby of the season at the moment – he was really good last week and his metres have gone through the roof.

“He hasn’t been as consistent as he would have liked but I do think he’s been really good this year.”

Jack Hughes, Gareth Widdop and Matt Davis are also confirmed to be departing as their contracts expire, with Jason Clark and Kyle Amor moving onto Limoux Grizzlies and Widnes Vikings respectively.

There will be a presentation to the departing players following tomorrow’s clash with Castleford Tigers – the club’s final home game of the season.

“There’s some players who are leaving who have given a lot to the club,” Powell said.

“I want to thank them for their work in my time – some of these boys have been here well before me and I want to wish them all the best for the future.

“Pretty much all of them have continued to play for us so I wish them all the best.”
