DANNY Craven will contest boxing's national schoolboy semi finals on Saturday.
The Bridge Foot Police Boxing Club fighter's passage was secured with a convincing defeat of Durham's Marley Abadom at Everton Park Sports Centre in Liverpool at the weekend.
Craven's foot and hand speed resulted in him landing punches at will with the contest being stopped in the second round on the no mercy' rule, with Craven winning 15-0.
He will face the winner of the Yorkshire versus Midlands area finals in the last four.
Declan West was beaten 4-2 on computer scoring in his quarter final against a strong and aggressive Irum Greenwell from Sunderland ABC.
West was two points behind going into the last round but then he was given a public warning for holding, which was harsh, and he could not pull the points back.
Jordan West will meet the champion of the central area and Northern Ireland in the semi finals of the Clubs for Young People competition at Drayton Manor Park in Staffordshire on Sunday.
He won the event's north final when defeating Leeds boxer Ikshan Lowe in Hull thanks to his cleaner punches, helping him to a 11-9 points advantage in the 48kg to 50kg class A division.
Bridge Foot Police will be staging their third show of the season tomorrow, Friday, at Alford Sports and Social Club, Manchester Road.
The show will start at 8pm with 14 contests featuring several Bridge Foot boxers, male and female.
Tickets, priced £12 or 38 for adults and £5 for children and pensioners, are available on the door or call in Hook and Jab Gym at Bridge Foot any time.
