WARRINGTON Wizards entertain Stanningley in the Carnegie Challenge Cup second round at Wilderspool Stadium on Saturday at 2.30pm.
Wizards are aiming to progress to a game against National League opposition for the first time in their four-year history but they will be facing an in-form Yorkshire side, who are currently lying in fifth position in National Conference Division Two and are coached by Leeds and Great Britain second row star Jamie Jones-Buchanan.
Wizards joint player/coaches Chris Mellor and Matt Wilson are expecting a tough battle against Leeds-based Stanningley.
Wilson said: "They are on a good run at the moment and will be high on confidence.
"They had an excellent win over Premier Division Shaw Cross Sharks in the first round and will be confident of progressing against us but we have to make sure that we don't let them dictate the game.
"I believe that we have plenty of ability in our squad and if we perform as I know we can then we have an excellent chance of progressing."
Mellor added: "After the friendly last week against Warrington Wolves Reserves we identified the areas that we felt we needed to work on and we have worked really hard in training to ensure that we give ourselves the best possible chance of gaining the result that we are desperate for.
"Everyone within the squad is really buzzing and we can't wait to get out on the pitch and give it our best shot."
