TEAMWORK is the key focus for manager Paul Moore in a week when a colossal Argentian goalkeeper looks set to become the latest newcomer to Warrington Town's ranks.
Diego Bassanini, who has played for Boca Juniors in his home country and has had trials with Tottenham Hotspur and Tranmere Rovers, could make his debut in the UniBond Soccer League First Division South game at Belper Town on Saturday with on-loan keeper Shane McWeeney due to return to Tranmere.
Moore said: "Shane's going back to Tranmere to develop his game in training.
"Everything still has to be finalised with Diego in the next few days.
"He came down to training last night (Monday) and he's a colossus.
"He's 6ft 8ins tall with his head almost touching the crossbar and he would be a massive presence in goal for us."
Moore has admitted that the number of new signings he has made since joining the club has had an unsettling effect on performances.
Kevin Towey returned to the club from Marine last week, while former Stockport County first-team defender Andy Thomas was brought in from Leek and made his debut in Saturday's home loss to Alsager.
Nicky Prescott, a midfielder or defender, has also been signed from Leek but is unlikely to figure for a few weeks because of studying for exams.
Moore, who has seen his side register one win from his 16 games in charge, made no apologies for all the changes, saying he is not prepared to miss out on good players who can strengthen the squad for next season's promotion push if they become available.
He added: "I understand the frustrations of the supporters. The performance on Saturday was poor and I don't want to hide behind that.
"We have a lot of unsettled players with regards to the way we're playing and I have contributed towards that.
"Alsager had a team who collectively worked hard together while we haven't quite got that yet.
"We're competing with all the teams that we're playing against but losing by the odd goal and they're goals that we contribute towards with our mistakes.
"We've got a few young lads, we've got some who haven't been playing regularly with other clubs and that's why they've come to us. And we've got some in there who are helping to make things gel.
"Now we're trying to turn those narrow defeats into wins. We had a good session last night about patterns of play and the lads understand what we're trying to achieve.
"If we'd had a bit of fortune and picked up a few wins along the way we could have been knocking on the door of the play-offs.
"That's bypassed us, we see it's going to take a little bit longer but we can still finish in the top half of the table this season.
"We've just got to settle down and work hard at playing as a team. I'm going to try and keep things as normal as I can on the field to help with that.
"And what we need now is for everyone to get behind the club because everything we're doing is about working towards promotion next season."
