Northwich 13 Lymm 8.
LYMM fell to their fourth consecutive defeat at the weekend but will feel exasperated by some crucial refereeing decisions in a North Two West rugby union clash.
A centre appeared to be in touch in the approach to Northwich's first try and Lymm had a push-over score ruled out that should have counted.
Northwich's last try could arguably have been ruled out for three different reasons but the referee did not act on any of them.
Returning kicker Barnes-Smith scored Lymm's try with Butler equalising the scores with a second-half penalty after Barnes-Smith bowed out with injury.
Lymm should have turned the screw at that stage but the team is lacking in confidence and patience, and squandered several opportunities to dominate.
The penalty count began to rise from both teams and Butler missed a difficult kick in the 58th minute.
Northwich sensed that they could alleviate their relegation worries and forced Lymm into errors and penalties.
Their scrum began to dominate and it was no great surprise when they scored the deciding try after 74 minutes.
Lymm: Adam Cox, Bobby Gould, Keith Broadbent, John Mcpartland, John Millington (Darius Miksys 40mins), Andy Williamson, Jake Ashall, Glenn George, Chris Kinsey, Andy Roberts, Jack Johnston, Adam Fletcher 13, Richard Butler 14, Matthew Barnes-Smith (Daniel Naylor 40mins), David Roberts.
