Eagle 18 St Edwards OB 13.
EXCELLENT discipline was the key as Eagle produced a special performance to defeat second-placed St Edwards in rugby union's Euromanx South Lancashire and Cheshire Three.
Eagle, whose pack was more aggressive and controlled than St Edwards' forwards, produced a game plan that stifled the usually dangerous St Edwards attack.
St Edwards did take a 10-3 lead but Eagle levelled matters before Chris Taylor touched down the decisive try before half time, with a penalty from each team the only scores of the second half.
Northwich 3rd 22 Eagle 2nd 29 EAGLE earned a hard-fought victory over a spirited Northwich team to edge themselves towards safety in Miller Homes League Division Four West.
The only time Northwich held the lead was from a 15th-minute penalty.
Tries from Will McAllister and Barry Gettins gave Eagle a half-time advantage which was improved with a try from Andy Giblin picked early in the second period.
Northwich kept fighting back but McAllister scored what proved to be the decisive try.
* Eagle have no game on Saturday but the seconds are away to Crewe and Nantwich at 2.30pm.
