WINGER Kevin Penny has revealed that Wolves are working harder than ever before to get their performances right on the field.
He says the motivation for the players is winning a trophy this year.
And he is confident Wolves will turn around their current issues with conceding penalties sooner rather than later because of the hours being put in as well as an understanding of the problem.
"Everyone's putting in 100 per cent effort on the training field," he said.
"Training finishes later than it used to do because players are staying behind and doing extras in their own little groups, working through what they need to do.
"The boys are really enthusiastic about getting some silverware to the club this year."
And there is no doubt about the focus this week.
He said: "Everyone knows penalties were the reason why we lost at St Helens on Friday.
"I was gutted. I had big expectations for that game and thought we'd trained really well in the week and was hoping to do some damage to Saints but it wasn't to be.
"We were giving penalties away for fun and that's not good enough, especially against a side like Saints.
"We were fortunate enough to get away with giving away too many penalties in our first game against Hull but you can't keep doing it back-to-back weeks.
"It's got to be addressed and put right. You only learn from the mistakes if you understand what you've done wrong and I think the boys do understand.
"It's something we're working on this week."
An area of Penny's game that he is continually striving to develop is his defence on the left flank, which St Helens and Hull have tested to the full with some success.
Penny, who also got off the mark for 2008 with a try at Knowsley Road, said: "I was disappointed that Saints did well down our left and I'm generally disappointed that I had to come away from St Helens again with another loss.
"Defence is something I've been working really hard on with Matt King on my inside.
"Obviously Matt went off injured and it was different having Andy Bracek alongside me because he's a second rower.
"There was a bit of inexperience on the left-hand side and the situation was exploited well by Saints really but when these situations do happen you have to learn to deal with them.
"It's going to be good for me in the future."
