FOUR members of Warrington Gymnastics Club have been selected for the national under 12s age group squad.

Georgina Scott, aged 11, has been chosen along with 10-year-old Kara Heaton as well as Jessica Maio and Kyra Allen, both nine.

The quartet will join up with the squad each month at Loughborough, having been selected on the back of their performances at the British Championships.

Maio was second at the event with Heaton fourth, Allen fifth and Scott sixth, with the top eight qualifying for the national squad.

Warrington Gymnastics Club coach Sandi Gore said: "They've been in our development squad so we're really pleased they've been selected.

"They are the new generation that have been brought through at the club and for a lot of them the British Championships was their first competition.

"They are in the top six in the country, so you could say they're very good."

Several members of the club also earned places in the Cheshire and Merseyside team thanks to good displays in Neston at the weekend.

Holly Bryon was crowned champion in the in-age grade six category after passing with distinction along with Olivia Sands and Katie Williams, who finished third and fifth respectively.

Megan Walley passed but narrowly missed out on a place in the Cheshire and Merseyside team after finishing eighth.

Catherine Ross took second place and passed with distinction in the grade six out of age category, with Lauren Tarpey third, Megan Morgan fifth and Isobella Worthington sixth. Rosa Taylor passed the grade and finished eighth.

Chelsea McCarthy was crowned champion in the grade five in-age section after taking first place in three elements.

Caitlin Sutcliffe was second overall in the out of age category with Danielle Collier and Samantha Simpson also earning selection to the Cheshire and Merseyside team after finishing third and fifth respectively.

Megan Hutton, seventh, and Charlotte Clarke, eighth, both passed but narrowly missed out on a place in the team.
