SEVEN students from Cheshire Martial Arts Centre won medals at the SKU National Kata Championships at Birchwood Tennis Centre on Sunday.
Hannah Laidlaw-Graham won gold in the girls' 13 to 15-year-old black belt Shukokai event and followed that up with gold in the 10 to 15-year-old open competition.
Tanya Burgess also clinched gold in the 13 to 15-year-old brown belt Shukokai event with Rebecca Fisher first in the 10 to 12-year-old black belt Shukokai category and second in the 10 to 15-year-old open event.
Fisher and Hannah Laidlaw-Graham also teamed up for the first time with Abigail Laidlaw-Graham, who took gold in the 10 to 12-year-old brown belt Shukokai section, to win the team kata open event.
Liam Durkin grabbed the silver medal in the boys' over 16s black belt open competition, while Joe Langer received the bronze medal in the boys' 13 to 15-year-old Skukokai category and Megan Crilly also finished first in the girls' 10 to 12-year-old brown belt Shukokai section.
