Wath Brow Hornets 48 Crosfields 4.
SOAP bowed out of the BARLA National Cup at the third-round stage with a heavy defeat at Wath Brow Hornets at the weekend.
A heavy penalty count and error rate gifted possession and position to the hosts, costing Crosfields dearly.
Early parts of the match both teams let each other know they were in for a tough contest, defence was on top.
Wath Brow crossed three times before Crosfields got off the mark when Liam O'Brien crashed over for their only try.
Brow's next score from a seemingly forward pass gave the home side breathing space again.
A small scuffle after a high tackle on Dave Boden resulted in Wath Brow being reduced to 12 men but Soap could not capitalise on the numerical advantage and Wath Brow racked up 20 points in the final 20 minutes.
Ian Boden was named Crosfields' man of the match, with Stuart Hitchen and O'Brien looking dangerous in the backs. Craig Noone and Dave Boden led the way for the forwards.
* Crosfields are at home to Normanton Knights in National Conference Divsion Two on Saturday at 2.30pm.
