A host of new monthly accolades will be awarded in Betfred Super League this season to highlight and reward the efforts not just from players and coaches, but also fans within their local communities.

The four new awards will see a monthly winner crowned in Player of the Month, Betfred Coach of the Month, Northern Try of the Month and Dacia Community Hero of the Month.

Here is how each of the awards will work:

Player of the Month:

For the unbelievable athletes we are lucky enough to watch put their bodies on the line each week in Super League, hoping to get the win for the team and entertain the fans.

Each month, a shortlist of eight players will be published and voting opened for fans to select for their choice.

Alongside the fan vote, a panel consisting of Jenna Brooks (Sky Sports), Dave Woods (BBC), Leon Pryce and Jodie Cunningham will also vote on who they believe the best player in Super League has been that month.

These votes will be added together with the fan’s winner to crown the overall winner.

Betfred Coach of the Month

Sometimes they don’t get the headlines like the players, but they make the big decisions week in week out, prepare their teams, analyse the opposition, formulate a game plan and hope to lead their team to glory. We want to acknowledge their undeniable contributions by awarding the Betfred Coach of the Month award to that month’s outstanding candidate.

A selection panel from the media will nominate their choice for and this will be put alongside the fans choice to determine the monthly winner.

Northern Try of the Month

Each week in Betfred Super League we are treated to some unmistakably breath-taking tries, whether it’s an impossible looking dive into the corner or a full-length break and now fans have the opportunity to vote for their favourite each month from a shortlist of the best.

The shortlist of eight contenders will be published on Super League digital channels for fans to watch and vote on their favourite.

Every fan that registers to vote will be entered into a monthly prize draw to win a signed match shirt of their choice, courtesy of Northern

The try with the most votes will be the Northern Try of the Month.

Dacia Community Hero of the Month

Super League, together with Rugby League Cares, is to launch the Dacia’s Community Hero of the Month.

If the turbulence of the past year has taught us anything, it is that the Rugby League family stand tall in tough times to take care of those who need it the most. Between running marathons for the MND Association, taking on crazy hairstyles with Community Integrated Care, working or volunteering on the frontline throughout the crisis and everything in between, you all deserve to be celebrated.

Community Hero of the month, in partnership with Dacia, recognises all the incredible things, big or small, that our fans have done within their communities. Every month you will have the chance to nominate someone for the award, and the winner will be selected by Rugby League Cares Head of Welfare Steve McCormack.

How to enter?

Keep an eye out on Super League Facebook and Twitter pages. All you need to do is tag your nominee and use #SLHero with a short description of what amazing thing they’ve done in the past month. A shortlist of heroes will then be reviewed by Steve McCormack to decide the winner.

Prizes

The winner will receive a Community Hero of the Month trophy, and an exclusive personal video from a Super League player, courtesy of our partners at Dacia.

To ensure consistency and some rounds being played across different months, the voting periods for all awards will be split evenly across the season as below;

June (4) – Rounds 9 to 12

July (4) – Rounds 13 to 16
