JACK Hughes says he is “hopeful” of being fit to face St Helens in next weekend’s Challenge Cup Final.
The Wire co-captain suffered a ruptured testicle during the defeat to Catalans Dragons on August 3 – an injury he bravely played on with.
He was rushed to hospital after the game and had surgery that ruled him out of last week’s league loss to Saints and tonight’s trip to Wigan Warriors.
However, after having stitches on the wound removed, he is optimistic about being available for Wembley.
“I’ve still got two intact, so it’s not all bad,” he joked.
“It’s just a case of letting the wound heal now. I’ve had the stitches out so now I can have a run and be flying next week.
“Touch wood, I’m hopeful of being fit.”
