STEVE Price felt Warrington Wolves were “always the dominant team” in their Magic Weekend victory over Wigan Warriors.
The Wire led 8-2 at half time but had been pegged back to 8-8 before Blake Austin’s solo try proved the catalyst for an ultimately comfortable 26-14 victory at Anfield
It is the third time Wolves have beaten Wigan this season and their first Magic Weekend victory since beating St Helens in 2014.
Wigan head coach Adrian Lam had considered his side to be the better outfit for much of the game – something Price firmly disagreed with.

“I felt we were always the dominant team. It was a good tough game,” he said.
“We were always in control of the first half. We should have gone in 12 points up – Ben Murdoch had the ball knocked out on the try line – and we should have been in cruise control.
“Credit to them – they were up for the fight and they had a red-hot crack as we expected in a local derby.
“In the second half, we were one from four in our completion rate and had three penalties against when we came out.
“The first 15 minutes after half time was just defending our line.
“Credit to Blake – he came up with a big play to score that try.
> Austin's wonder try and other match action
“He’s a special player – that’s what we signed him for and why we pay him the big bucks.
“In saying that, we’re not a one-man band – we’re a unit here. It was a real 17-man effort.
“We had to defend our try line a fair bit in the second half but we kept turning them away.
“I’m not sure how many repeat sets they had but it felt like we were defending for an eternity.”
There was also a point of controversy when Taulima Tautai was ruled to have knocked on when he put the ball on the ground following a tackle from Ben Currie.
From the resulting set, Austin scored and in his post-match press conference, Lam called Currie’s effort “the definition of a crusher tackle.”
The incident was put on report but Price saw little wrong.
“There was nothing wrong with that whatsoever,” he said.
“There was a fair amount of separation from Ben’s rib cage to Taulima’s head.
“He opened up a space to put his head through. I don’t see any issue with it.”
Price also confirmed The Wire had come through the game with no injuries.
