STEVE Price admits Wakefield Trinity’s second-half comeback against his side was “an avalanche we could not stop.”

The Wire led 34-12 with 20 minutes remaining at the Mobile Rocket Stadium, but Trinity stormed back and were a missed Danny Brough conversion away from forcing golden point.

It was another instance in which Wolves let a beaten team back into the contest but Price insists he does not yet consider it “a major issue.”

However, he does admit it is one that needs addressing quickly.

“We got a win, which was the most pleasing thing.

“The last 20 minutes was like a big avalanche. It was coming and we couldn’t control it.

“They are a fair footy team. They throw some shape at you and move the ball around.

“There’s definitely a few things to dust up on.

“Having 13 penalties against certainly makes it difficult and it’s very frustrating.

“There was a bit of that last week in a 12-minute block but tonight was a bit longer.

“I don’t see it as a major issue yet. We’ll fix it up quicksmart.”

The Wire made a superb start, racing into an 18-0 lead inside the first 15 minutes as Toby King, Josh Charnley and Chris Hill crossed.

It could have been better had Jake Mamo’s try at 18-0 not been controversially ruled out by the video referee – a decision Price criticised.

“I thought our first half was outstanding. We played some really gritty footy and defensively we were quite sound,” he said.

“We had a few opportunities in the second half to close the game out. There were opportunities through out the game but we have to look at it again.

“We were really polished in that first half. The try that Dec Patton threw over the top, I still can’t get my head around them classing that as a no try.

“Ben Currie had gone through the line.”
