WARRINGTON Wolves’ head coach Steve Price was just grateful to have two points in the bag at the final hooter.
Having gone into the game with four changes, and then losing Ben Murdoch-Masila to injury in the warm-up as well as Ben Pomeroy with a leg problem midway through the first half, The Wire’s display was anything but fluent.
“Two points is two points. We did what we had to do to get the result,” said Price as his men backed up victory at Wakefield last time out almost a fortnight ago.
“It’s a credit to the playing group with a 30-14 scoreline after a full week off.

“I thought in certain aspects we were a little bit flat at times but we found a way and the scoreline indicated that.
“I thought we missed a heap of opportunities to score tries. I think we bombed six or seven try-scoring opportunities.
“We’ll take the win and move on.”
Price reflected on some of the individual displays, including try-scoring winger Josh Charnley.
“Josh has been terrific all year and did some really good things,” said Price.
“A special mention for Mike Cooper to play 80 minutes was a really big effort through that middle third of the field.”
And he had a word for Mitch Brown, who has had be patient this year in terms of game time and was handed a start at full-back in the absence of the rested England international Stefan Ratchford.
“I know what Mitch is about. He’s the ultimate professional around the organisation and it showed in his character tonight how he played the game,” said Price.
The Wolves head coach seemed to spend more time in the dug-out area than usual, swapping his North Stand ‘birds nest’ position to be with his dug-out group.
“It was more about wanting to get back to our game plan and what we’d practiced all week,” he said as he explained his change in viewing area.
“In parts we went away from it a little bit but when the boys got back to it I thought they really put a dent in the Salford defence.
“Salford had a big crack at us.
“They’ve got a really good attacking structure and play really good through the middle part of the field in transition.
“I thought Robert Lui was great for them. We certainly knew what sort of football team they are and they do stress you at certain parts of the field but to come away with a 30-14 scoreline I’m happy.”
