A PLAYER has been suspended for a racial remark aimed at Warrington Wolves' rising star Kevin Penny.
Wakefield Trinity Wildcats hooker Tevita Leo-Latu has been suspended for six games by an RFL operational rules tribunal.
The 26-year-old was given the ban after being found guilty of conduct prejudicial and racial towards Kevin Penny during Warrington's game with Wakefield at the Halliwell Jones stadium on June 17.
During the game the Warrington winger, Super League's player of the month for July, reported the incident to a touch judge and it was subsequently investigated by the compliance unit.
Richard Lewis, the RFL's executive chairman, said: "Racism will not be tolerated in any form in Rugby League.
"Through our Tackle It campaign which we launched in 2006 we asked for clubs to adopt a policy of zero tolerance of racism in any form.
"Clubs have been asked to make a commitment to ensure that players, spectators, staff and volunteers can enjoy an environment free of discrimination and racism.
"As shown in this case should anyone break this commitment they will be punished."
Latu, who joined the Wildcats mid-way through the 2006 season from Cronulla Sharks, has until August 22 to appeal against his suspension.
