WARRINGTON Wolves skipper Lee Briers is in the record books again as he prepares for Sunday's clash with Wigan Warriors at The Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Warrington Guardian revealed last week that the three tries and eight conversions he scored in Wolves' 60-20 victory at Hull Kingston Rovers took him past the 2,000-point mark for the club - but that was not all!

The record books show that Briers' 28-point haul equals the record for the most points scored in an away match by a Warrington player.

The 29-year-old now shares the honour with Australian Dave Brown, whose points spree came from four tries, which then scored three points each, and eight conversions in the opening league game of the 1938 season at Rochdale Hornets.

Briers already holds the record for the most points scored in a home game, which was 40 against York in 2000.

Also, the scrum half shares the record for most goals in a match with Harold Palin, with Briers' haul of 14 also coming against York seven years ago.

He holds the record for the most drop goals in a Warrington career, with his total standing at 54 and still counting.

Briers' 2,017 points so far in Warrington colours currently rank him third in the club's scoring charts, closing in on Brian Bevan's 2,288 points.

And his 849 goals for the club, including his 54 drop goals, put him second to Steve Hesford in Warrington's all-time kicking records after overtaking the totals of Harry Bath and Billy Holding this season.
