WARRINGTON Cricket Club's under 18s will face Congleton in the Mid-Cheshire League Cup Final on September 2.

The Walton Lea boys booked their place in the showdown with a semi-final defeat of Northop Hall.

Warrington only came through with five balls to spare after skittling Northop to 76 all out.

It was a difficult night for batsmen after some heavy rain and Warrington lost B Pearce and N Geddes cheaply in their reply. But Chris Kirby, 49, supported by J Shackleford, 12, weathered the storm and took the score on to 77 for 3 with the first ball of the final over.

Kirby also produced a run out from a direct hit during Northop's innings, while 13-year-old Ryan Gratton claimed two excellent stumpings and T Lloyd completed two catches. Warrington's J Rudd, B Pearce and J Waldron secured eight wickets between them.
