STRETTON drew with Wistaston in a high-scoring Meller Braggins Cricket League Division Three game.

Stretton posted 221 for 3 from their 45 overs with Iain Hill continuing his fine form with 75, Ben Clissold smashing a quick 57, Andy Delaney scoring 40 and Steve Lyons adding 31.

The visitors put up stern resistance and scored 181 for 6 in reply with Clissold taking 5 for 51.

Stretton's second team recorded a nail-biting victory against Weaverham.

The hosts scored 116 all out in their innings, with Bryan Jones scalping 5 for 23 and Jason Taylor tumbling 2 for 27.

It was a good day for promoted Sunday player Taylor, who went into bat at a tricky moment of the Stretton reply and scored 20 runs.

His partnership with Paul Critchley, 47 not out, was the foundation for victory as the team passed the Weaverham score for the loss of nine wickets.

The Sunday XI had a fine victory over Mobberley.

They scored 164 all out with Adam Garrod clocking up 67.

The visitors could only score 124, with Pat Flanagan following up his 30 runs with 4 for 20. A highlight of the innings was junior Justin Patricroft's flying catch.

Stretton's first team travel to Chelford on Saturday, with the seconds at home to Barrow, while the Sunday side travel to Widnes.
