MICHAEL Austin clinched his fifth successive tournament win with victory in the under 18s final at the Upton Grand Prix on the Wirral.

The 18-year-old continued his impressive form by defeating Ben McTaggart in a thrilling final at the grass court tournament, relinquishing a 5-2 lead to lose the first set 7-5 before recovering to win the next two sets 6-2 and 6-1.

He had previously beaten McTaggart's younger brother Josh 6-7 6-4 6-1 in the semi finals and also won the under 18s doubles with Matt Rickerby with a 6-2 6-4 final triumph against Lancashire pair Dean Moore and Sean Stafford.

Austin, who holds the Lymm and Stockton Heath open titles, will next compete in the Torbay open and junior tournaments in Devon and then participate in the Manchester Northern Junior event before the end of the month.
