STOCKTON Heath Tennis Club's women's team have won the Warrington League Division One title for the first time in 20 years.
The team of Alison Lewis, Clare Baron, captain Sheila Henstridge, Cheryl McQuillan, Ann Baron and 11-year-old Kim Schmider clinched the title after beating second-placed Winstanley - the Wigan side who won the league last year.
Schmider won the Warrington Under 11s Sports Personality award in 2005 after becoming the British under 10s champion two years ago, while Corinna Bebbington has also been a regular member of the Stockton Heath team this year.
And all six of Stockton Heath's women's teams have either won their division or been promoted this year.
The second team won Division Three after beating another Winstanley side in their final game, while the third team secured promotion from the same division after victory at Padgate. The club's fourth, fifth and sixth teams won Division Five, Division Six and Division Seven.
Stockton Heath's mixed team also recently won the Warrington League's 32-team knockout competition, known as the Ardern Cup.
Stockton Heath defeated Lane Tennis Club, of Widnes, by 17 games in the final at Grappenhall, having overcome Culcheth in the semi finals.
The team consisted of McQuillan, Bebbington, Clare Baron and Henstridge, as well as David Dixon, Sean Dunstan, Luke Baxter, Mark White, Martin Hales and Craig Barnard.
