ROOMING with teammates for a couple of months on tour must bring its challenges!
Here's the lowdown on the highs and lows from the Warrington Wolves boys in the England squad, who arrived in Perth, Australia, yesterday in the countdown to the Rugby League World Cup.
Kevin Brown: “I’ve built up some great friendships from some of the lads I’ve roomed with – Gaz Widdop, Mike McMeeken in the off-season, George Williams.
“There’s some dirty pigs amongst the squad as well. It’s great, there’s not one bad guy in the camp and I think that’s one of our massive strengths.”
Ben Currie “You can always get a daft one who wants to play little pranks on you. You definitely don’t want a snorer either."
Stefan Ratchford: “I’ve had a couple of good ones. Last year I roomed with Jonny Lomax. He’s a good roommate, nice and quiet. Then in the mid-season Test this year I was with Scott Taylor, who is not so quiet and on the other end of the spectrum.
“Most lads are the same, lads are lads. Whoever you end up with, it’s usually pretty good craic.”
Chris Hill: “I’ve had Tag the last few years, Scott Taylor. He’s pretty good to be honest. But if you get Jermaine McGillvary he’s a bit of a snorer, it’s a struggle then.
“It’s part of the beauty of a tour. You live in each other’s pockets for eight weeks. We all know each other’s traits, we’ve all been on camp with each other and know each other well.
“They’re memories for you, and you can’t buy memories like this when you retire.”
