JIMMY Lowes is looking forward to facing his old club on Sunday after leaving Salford last week to join Wolves as Paul Cullen's new assistant coach.
Lowes has signed a contract until the end of next season after a swift switch of clubs.
Wolves had only planned to bring in a new assistant if the right person became available.
But once Simon Moran was alerted that Lowes was 'keen and available' to move, he consulted Cullen and then acted quickly to bring in the 37-year-old former GB hooker.
Lowes decided to end a two-and-a-half year spell as assistant at Salford after being overlooked for the head coach role when Karl Harrison departed.
He felt uncomfortable in Shaun McRae's new regime but does not see his first home match with Wolves - against Salford on Sunday, kick-off 3pm - as a revenge mission.
Lowes, who is also working part-time as the Great Britain trainer this year, said: "It will be interesting but it's important for the club, not for me.
"Of course I know plenty about Salford and that's something we've talked about this week."
Lowes, who was due to be out of contract at the end of 2007, turned down Wakefield's head coach job last year but has made no secret of his desire to become a boss in the future.
But at the moment he is concentrating on helping Cullen and said: "I'll try to do a little bit tactically and I like working with players one on one.
"I don't think it's my job massively to be a disciplinarian. I think it's the coach's job to do that. I do a little bit of discipline, of course, but I like to think I have a bit of everything."
Cullen knows Lowes after asking him at short notice to join the England set-up last year only to find he was unavailable.
Cullen said: "He's been exceptionally well received by the current coaching and conditioning staff and the players. We're delighted to have him on board."
