NEW assistant coach Jimmy Lowes reckons Wolves' win at Huddersfield provided a fantastic base to work from in the coming weeks.
Wolves were alerted to Lowes' availability last Tuesday night and Paul Cullen met the former Salford assistant on Wednesday.
Lowes then observed training on Thursday before taking a hands-on approach at the end of the week, playing his part in the 47-28 win at Huddersfield on Sunday.
The ex-Great Britain hooker was delighted with that display and believes it demonstrates the potential of the players he is now working with, although he refused to take any credit for the win.
"They responded to themselves rather than anyone else," he said. "They did all the right things and just got on with it. They were the best team on Sunday.
"It was a fantastic base to work on. Huddersfield are not a bad side and apart from the last 10 minutes when we let a few tries in, I thought we were by far the best side on the day, so that gives you a great base to work on "There's some great players here and it's one of the big clubs in the competition.
"We just need to fulfil that potential and I'm sure we will with the players we've got."
