Huddersfield Giants 28 Warrington Wolves 47.
WOLVES shed their shackles and recorded their highest away win of the season at Huddersfield Giants on Sunday.
Quality performances had previously been held back by defensive frailties, gifting away possession and not taking chances but Paul Cullen's men got those components right for most of the time at the Galpharm Stadium.
Wolves led 40-12 with 13 minutes to go but switched off with the game won, conceding three late tries.
Although Huddersfield opened the scoring with a Robbie Paul try in the fourth minute, Wolves' ferocious tackling turned Giants' players into panicky wrecks and there were plenty of errors to capitalise upon.
Great Britain captain Adrian Morley welcomed Jimmy Lowes to the camp with a pack-leading performance, with Giants man-mountain Eorl Crabtree being reduced to jelly on legs after one particularly punishing tackle from the former Sydney Roosters intimidator.
Chris Bridge, back at stand off for the first time in nine games, proved his match fitness is back on track with his first hat-trick of tries in Warrington colours, although the way he was limping in the final few minutes will be a bit of a worry after a season dogged with niggling leg injuries.
And another class act was Michael Sullivan, making only his second start of the year at hooker with Mark Gleeson sidelined and Jon Clarke covering for Mike Wainwright at loose forward.
Sullivan's darting runs and support play left Huddersfield defenders tackling shadows time and time again.
Kevin Penny, fast gaining cult status on the terraces, chipped in with a brace of tries to make it six scores in five outings since making his Super League debut start at Leeds last month.
Hopefully, those Wolves fans who were fearing relegation was more likely than a top-six finish last week are now sleeping a little easier.
