Huddersfield Giants 28 Warrington Wolves 47.

WARRINGTON Wolves climbed two places in the Super League ladder on the back of one of their best performances of the season at Huddersfield Giants on Sunday.

Wolves, who are now eighth and five points clear of bottom club Salford - the team they meet on Sunday - dominated the game with their aggressive defending.

Wolves' players, led by Adrian Morley, Paul Wood, Ben Westwood and Jon Clarke got into the faces of Huddersfield's attacking weapons and neutralised the threat for long periods, forcing them into mistakes.

Wolves led 40-12 with 13 minutes to go before taking their foot off the gas to allow Huddersfield three tries in 12 minutes.

Wolves welcomed the return of Paul Johnson and Stuart Reardon from injury, with regular full back Reardon replacing the injured Chris Riley on the right wing and Brent Grose keeping the slot at the rear.

Chris Bridge returned to the stand off spot after easing his way back into the team in the centres in the previous week's defeat at Catalans Dragons.

That move was a resounding success with Bridge crossing for a hat-trick of tries.

Wingman Kevin Penny popped up with another brace of touch downs while Michael Sullivan also crossed.

Lee Briers recorded a 100 per cent record with the boot, landing seven conversions, two penalty goals and a drop goal.

Ryan Hudson touched down twice for a Huddersfield side that were clearly rattled by the ferocity of Wolves' defence.

The match was James Lowes' first as the new assistant coach to Paul Cullen after leaving Salford City Reds on Thursday.
