AS disappointing as the Warrington Wolves loss at Hull was, Tony Smith says the pendulum can soon swing back the other way.
And he made reference to the outcome of the Leeds Rhinos versus Huddersfield Giants clash at Headingley on Thursday night to help highlight his point.
Huddersfield, a week after bowing out of the Challenge Cup to part-timers Swinton Lions, defeated high-flying Leeds 31-12.
“Even last night’s game (Leeds v Huddersfield) shows you what can happen in this competition now,” he said after Wolves’ disappointing showing at Hull FC as a five-match unbeaten run came to an end.
“ You can get beaten by a Championship team in the Challenge Cup and then go out and beat one of the teams at the top.
“If you’re just a bit off, you get beat and that’s just how it is.
“This team (Hull) got beat a couple of times not so long ago and not by doing too much wrong.
“You don’t have to be too far off the mark to not get the money.
“And it doesn’t take a big swing in form to get back to where you are winning, too.
“You don’t have to be absolutely sensational to get that win, all you need to do is get a fair share of the ball and take a few opportunities and then momentum swings your way. It’s a tough game.”
