WARRINGTON footballer Josh Brownhill’s superb form this season has earned him a summer move to Championship side Bristol City.
The 20-year-old former Birchwood Community High School student played a key role in Barnsley’s rise from League One relegation candidates to play-off final winners while on loan at Oakwell from Preston North End.
His form has brought him to the attention of Bristol City boss Lee Johnson, who was manager of Barnsley when Brownhill signed for the Yorkshiremen, and he moved quickly to sign the midfielder for a compensation fee to be decided.
Brownhill made 28 appearances for Barnsley during a loan spell in which he made two victorious appearances at Wembley, first helping the Tykes to a 3-2 Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final win over Oxford before a 3-1 victory over Millwall in the League One play-off final.
Just after the deal was announced, Brownhill posted on Twitter of his excitement at moving to Ashton Gate.
