WARRINGTON badminton teams pitted their wits against the rest of the county in the Cheshire Junior Inter-League Tournament in Chester.

The under 15s side, featuring players from Vida Badminton Club, finished second in their group after recovering from an 8-0 defeat in their opening game against eventual winners Crewe.

Despite the disappointing start, the team recovered to beat Wirral 5-3 before beating Chester 6-2 in their final game, their first match wins in four years at the tournament.

The under 19s side were not so successful, losing three games to finish fourth in their group.

With only two players remaining from the side that won the tournament last year, they fell to 6-2 defeats to both Crewe and Wirral.

The final game against Chester saw them take a 3-0 lead after the singles matches, but they failed to register another point and went down to a 5-3 defeat.
