WARRINGTON Athletics Club runners were in action on Saturday, competing in the third meeting of the season of the Manchester Area Cross Country League.
Due to poor weather earlier in the week, the course had to be altered from the normal course but the underfoot conditions were still atrocious with the start line being ankle-deep in mud and at some parts knee-deep.

The first age group to race was the under 11s boys, where Warrington's Rhys Hopkins ran well to finish in ninth place in a time of 10mins 46secs.
The under 13s boys' team finished third with Lucas Hayes leading them home.
He enjoyed a good run to finish in fifth place with a time of 13mins 50secs and was followed home in ninth by Isaaq Ataullah, clocking 14mins 9secs.
Joe Roberts completed the team in 14th place in 14mins 23secs to earn Warrington 28 points.
The girls' race saw Rebecca Nixon run well to finish in 13th place, recording a time of 15mins 54secs.
In the under 15s boys' event, Jordan Jones and Joe Buckley were in contention for most of the race and finished strongly in second and third places.
They set respective times of 16mins 2secs and 16mins 19secs.
The day was brought to a close with the senior and junior men’s race, where under 20s runner Chris Fance performed well to finish in 66th place overall with a time of 41mins 48secs.
That time also placed the youngster fifth in the under 20s category.
