WARRINGTON shared the lead in Cheshire Women's League Division Two at the season's halfway stage following a 4-0 victory at back-markers Triton seconds.
Louise Sullivan and Steph Rawlins both scored twice, while at the other end goalkeeper Tracy Jackson was called into action to make a series of important stops.
Carrie Wright marshalled the defence to a fourth shut-out of the campaign.
The women’s second team scored six goals without reply against Oxton thirds to maintain pressure on the Division Five leaders.
Molly Rudd bagged another two goals, added to by one each from Emma Frew, Vicky Stout and Jenny Fox.
Jess Palmer was in inspired form, scoring the other goal and receiving the player of the match prize.
The men’s second team remain second in North West League Division Six after a great team performance produced a 3-0 win over Didsbury sevenths.
Adam Garrod netted once and Rich Hannibal scored twice, including one from a clinical short corner routine with Dan Sutton.
Lymm Ladies firsts were beaten 1-0 at Lancaster.
A sluggish start proved costly as despite going on to dominate possession, the away side could not convert a host of chances – Hollie Acklam going closest with her effort flicking off the outside edge of the post.
Lancaster survived a succession of penalty corners and efforts on goal to take all three points.
Lymm played the most ambitious hockey with player of the game Sarah Cooper helping the defence to restrict the home team to just one penalty corner and one shot on target but in the end that stat encapsulates this league; Lancaster's precision in front of goal meant Lymm made the journey home disappointed.
Lymm thirds won 2-0 at Wilmslow thanks to goals from Jess Impey and Sarah Lyons.
Lymm stamped their mark on the game from the outset with Jess Impey finding the goal after a strike into the D from Alison Fearn in the first four minutes.
Although the away side had much of the pressure they were unable to capitalise on it and the score remained 1-0 at half time.
The second goal confirming three points for Lymm came from a well-worked team attack starting in the defence, worked up through the midfield with some lovely one-two passing moves and fed into the D for Captain Sarah Lyons to finish off.
“It was a great performance by the team,” said Sarah Lyons after the match.
“We put into practice much of the work we have done in training and played really well together as a team”
