WARRINGTON Hockey Club women’s teams stayed second in their divisions thanks to victories at the weekend.
The first team took a 1-0 lead early on against Oswestry when Steph Rawlins finished neatly after a pull back from Emma Barlow.
Warrington made hard work of it for much of the match until a bullet-like strike from Jayne Wood extended their lead.
Oswestry threatened to get back into the game when they scored, giving Warrington the scare they needed to go down the other end and make the game safe at 4-1 through Rawlins again and captain Louise Sullivan.
The women’s second team beat Bowdon 2-1 thanks to some great saves from keeper Jen Herst and goals from Vicky Stout and Becky Miller.
Ben Vickers provided the best moment of the men’s game with a sublime short-corner finish but Warrington lost 2-1 at home to Cheetham Hill.
