Warrington Wolves Ladies 32 Middleton Ladies 28.
WARRINGTON Wolves Ladies have won the Plate Challenge Cup for the first time.
They came out on top in Sunday's gripping battle with Middleton Ladies at Featherstone.
Early pressure allowed Debbie Makin to weave through the Middleton defence and give Wolves a 6-0 lead.
But nerves, conceded penalties and lost possession led to Middleton running in four tries in 10 minutes which put them 18-6 behind.
Once Wolves settled their superior strength and fitness told, with Aimee Bradshaw scoring between the posts just before half time although Middleton started strongly in the second half and added an unconverted try.
Middleton tired and Warrington hit back with tries from Nicollette Postlethwaite and Kath Organ to take a 24-20 lead midway through the half.
Warrington bombed four certain tries with forward passes and dropped kicks but consolidated their lead when centre Katherine Hunter scored.
Middleton countered with a try to keep the scores close and scored an unconverted try with three minutes remaining.
