WARRINGTON Rowing Club crews have been chosen to represent the north west in five events at the first major national regatta of the season.
Chris Johnstone, Luke Balcerak, Tom Pearson, Mike Pownall and James Whitehead will compete in the Junior Inter Regional Regatta at the National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham on April 21 following success at junior 16s level in the annual selection trials on the River Weaver at Northwich.
Johnstone will figure in the single sculls as well as team up with Pearson, Pownall and Whitehead in the quad sculls, while Balcerak and Pearson will be in the coxless pairs and there will be action for Pownall and Whitehead in the double sculls.
Also, Joshua Goswell teamed up with Runcorn's Sam Edwards to gain selection in the junior 15 double sculls.
Last year the club won gold, silver and bronze medals.
Meanwhile, one of Warrington's newest crews, the women's senior four eight, finished fourth in the North of England Head of the River competition on the River Dee at Chester on Saturday.
