Linley 12 Eagle 18.
EAGLE spoiled the best home record in South Lancashire/Cheshire Four to stay top of the league with two games remaining this season.
Linley had only lost once at home all season but Eagle were able to secure an away win and are now guaranteed at least a top-two finish.
Tom O'Shea, returning to the club after a spell in rugby league, sealed the win with the final try of the game, while Vince Sandwell and Steve Leigh shared the man of the match award.
Both of Eagle's remaming fixtures are at home, with Merseyside Police visiting Thornton Road on Saturday at 3pm.
Eagle's second team travel to Ashton-on-Mersey's second at the weekend as they bid to keep their hopes of promotion from Miller Homes League Division Five West alive.
The under 19s lost 22-5 at Winnington Park at the weekend.
* England's all-time leading try scorer Rory Underwood will be the guest speaker at Eagle's gentleman's evening tomorrow, Friday.
