WOLVES suffered their first away defeat of the season as they were beaten 30-24 at Wakefield Trinity Wildcats on Sunday.
Wolves were without the injured Lee Briers and Adrian Morley but welcomed back Chris Bridge from a groin injury for the clash with a Wakefield side currently sitting second in Super League.
It was Wakefield who started the brighter, taking the lead in the fourth minute when Olivier Elima put winger Peter Fox over after Jamie Rooney's 40/20 kick, with Rooney converting.
The hosts then went 10-0 up in the 10th minute as Ryan Atkins beat Henry Fa'afili to Ben Jeffries' grubber kick.
Wolves hit back in the 25th minute thanks to Paul Wood's determined run to the line, with Chris Bridge converting, before losing left centre Paul Johnson to a hand injury.
Wakefield restored their 10-point lead when Mike Wainwright could not gather Rob Parker's stray pass, allowing Jason Demetriou to hand a try to Paul March.
But Wolves were handed a lifeline on the last play of the half, with Bridge stealing the ball from Brett Ferres and supplying Fa'afili after the hooter had sounded.
Bridge then stepped his way over and converted himself to put Wolves ahead for the first time six minutes after the interval, before Martin Gleeson gave Jon Clarke a 40-metre run to the line to make it 24-16.
But Wakefield hit back immediately as Waine Pryce touched down Atkins' kick after Sullivan had fumbled from the restart.
Jeffries then surged over to edge John Kear's men in front and Tevita Leo-Latu raced clear to seal Wildcats' win after an error from Mark Gleeson.
