WOLVES have vowed not to bring Adrian Morley back early for a second time after he was ruled out for six weeks with a displaced fracture of his left cheekbone.

Morley is due to go under the knife before the end of the week to have a plate fitted in his face - five weeks after a similar operation to repair a fractured left eye socket.

Wolves' star signing returned a week-and-a-half ahead of schedule after the first operation but sustained the second injury 17 minutes into his home debut against Hull KR on Sunday after clashing heads with teammate Paul Johnson.

Johnson's head collided with the original titanium plate fitted in Morley's face, resulting in a fracture of the cheekbone at the side of the plate.

Morley will again visit a hyperbaric chamber in Worsley in the coming weeks to aid his recovery from the fracture, having spent time there after the first injury.

Paul Cullen says the club did not rush Morley back after the original fracture but is not prepared to bring him back ahead of schedule again.

"He will go the full course of six weeks on this one, which should allow him to return for Warrington versus Salford at Cardiff (on May 6), if not then the next round of the Challenge Cup if that's the way it presents," said Cullen.

"He came back early but all paperwork is absolutely 100 per cent with written clearance from all medics involved - surgeon, doctor and physios. He came back after four weeks and three days.

"They are not the same injury and are not in the same place, although they are very close.

"The odds of that happening are quite unbelievable but that's what has happened. He's absolutely gutted but he has not mentioned himself in any way shape or form.

"He's so disappointed that the team and the supporters have lost out because of his injury.

"But he can deliver for us over three years, it doesn't have to be three months."
