WARRINGTON Gymnastics Club secured a number of medals at the North West Regional Championships in Stalybridge at the weekend.

Sophie Sewell earned herself a place at the national finals by finishing third overall in grade four, with Lauren Harrop and Amber Allford also successfully passing that category.

Emma Silvester and Esme Littlefair will also go forward to the national finals after finishing fourth in grades one and two respectively, with Rachel Heaps the other to pass grade two.

Melissa Doan, Georgina Scott, Emma Steele, Lois Byron and Charlotte Wrigley all passed club grade three, while Caitlin Cowie won the uneven bars competition and finished second on the vault in the compulsory level four section.

Kara Heaton passed elite level three by finishing seventh overall.

Eight-year-old Nicole Steele was the overall champion in the grade six category while helping Cheshire and Merseyside to gold in the team competition along with fellow Warrington members Amber Leyland, Eloise Marley and Emily Orrell.

Caitlin Sutcliffe and Hannah Stubbs were part of the out of age grade six team that earned bronze, while Gemma Kersey, Lucy Costello, Kyra Allen and Olivia Bush helped the in age grade five team to second place.
