NEWTON Social have retained the title of Warrington Snooker League Division One champions although their season finished on a low note.

They lost their final game 4-3 at home to bottom club Kings Club A.

Second-placed Richmonds were beaten 5-2 at Snookers A but the crucial third spot went to Alford D, who won 7-0 at relegated British Rail B.

Division Two champions Walkers B were beaten 4-3 at Penketh Legion A, who had to settle for third place after Roosters A just beat them to the runners-up spot after beating Alford B 6-1.

St Benedicts pulled off the shock of the night.

Even though they lost 4-3 at home to Rylands A, it was enough to send Deaf Social A down to Division Three after they lost 6-1 at Woolston B.

Division Three went down to the wire, but Tetleys OF were crowned champions after beating Monks C 6-1 to go with their 6-1 win over Kings Club B in their game in hand.

Culcheth Legion had to settle for runners up after they won a tough game at Irish Club B 4-3, with Penketh Cons A filling the last promotion spot after they beat Roosters D 5-2.
